Von Buchholz Books is a new imprint from DigitalPractices Media Inc. 

 

We will be publishing and selling on-digital-demand (print on demand) books on our Website, through online retailers such as Amazon, and at bricks-and-mortar bookstores. They will be available both in digital and print formats. We will NOT be publishing the actual content of books on our Website(s), but may use some excerpts for promotional purposes. Our goal is to publish print books and to use digital copies of the books to market and promote the publication and its author(s) online, through traditional media, and to major agents and publishers. 

 
Von Buchholz Books will list new books of poetry, short fiction, novellas, novels and dramatic scripts. This will include solely-authored books as well as books with multiple authors (e.g. anthologies) as well. Our specialty is literary works that are dark, gothic, gothic-romantic, horror, experimental and alternative.

 
Von Buchholz Books will be open to submissions on January 1, 2010. We are looking for new authors as well as established authors who are experimenting with new directions in their work. Please follow our simple guidelines below.
 

Call for Submissions: Dark Eye Glances (tentative title) 

  • Our first book in 2010 will be a collection of dark, romantic and neo-gothic rhyming poetry or lyrics by various authors. We are looking for high quality metrical, rhyming poetry, not doggerel, and the rhyme scheme need not be present in all lines or stanzas, but must play an important role in the structure and impact of the poetry.

 

  • External rather than internal poetry themes are preferred — i.e. poetry about an event, an experience or a fictional narrative rather than a private, inner experience. However, we will consider all themes.

 

  • Submit all poetry in a single batch within the body of an email (attached documents will be rejected) to VonBuchholzBooks@gmail.com. One email submission per author, please. Please do NOT use Time New Roman font in your email body as TNR is an ugly font. ;-D 

 

  • Please include full contact information: author’s real name, the name the author wishes to be published under, his/her mailing address, telephone number and preferred email address.

 

  • Please include a brief author bio, Website(s) URL, writing/publishing background (if any) and whether any part of the work being submitted has been previously published, and if so, whether it has appeared in print or digital format or both. We may not accept previously published work that has altready been published in print as we are looking for new, original work for this book.    

 

  • No submission fee or reading fee is required. For the first edition of the book, we will pay an honorarium of one free print copy of the book.

 

  • Von Buchholz Books is not a black hole. All submissions will be acknowledged and authors who submit work will be contacted later even if their work is not accepted for publication.

 

  • We cannot promise how quickly we will respond to submission(s), but simultaneous submissions are acceptable provided authors disclose whether the work is scheduled to appear somewhere else.
