Garth’s poem, F L A T L A N D, was published in the Summer 2010 issue of Island Writer magazine.
F l a t l a n d
by Garth Von Buchholz
To resist the op(press)ion
of the two (dement)sional flatland world of glossy magazines,
I have (ob)seen women
Mutilate their forearms with deep(er) strokes of a razor
So that they may prove with their b(lo)ody
To themselves and their (conf)users
That their image (has depth)
Has depth (their image
Has depth).

Garth’s new short story, Make Mad the Roaring Winds (the title is from a poem by William Blake), is almost finished, and will probably be the longest short story he has ever written.
Our new story about Edgar A. Poe and his impact on modern culture was published this month.
NEW PUBLICATIONS: Garth’s poem, Silence Ascending, will be published in Issue 3 of Nefarious Ballerina.
Land of Milk and Honey is about a tough street kid named Moses who is haunted by “spirits.” When an outreach worker explains why he was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Moses becomes alarmed about the fate of his pregnant mother’s unborn child. Land of Milk and Honey has been workshopped by a professional director and cast but has never been produced.

Good news…my poem, Captivated, has been published in the second issue of Nefarious Ballerina, an intriguing online journal of erotic poetry.

Garth is thrilled that his poem, In the Basement of the Citadel Hotel (dedicated to our late friend, Vincent Price) will be published in an anthology called Return of the Raven, which celebrates the bicentennial of Edgar Allan Poe this year.
