‘Will the Circle be Unbroken’ to be published this summer

Post by: Von Buchholz on June 4th, 2010 | File Under Von Buchholz Logbook

Meteorite

Our short story, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, will be published in the 2010 VWS Writers’ Supplement coming out in August. More details about this special print publication will be provided here later.

Will the Circle be unbroken is about an autistic boy who experiences a terrible calamity in his home. He escapes into a nearby forest where he comes across a strange, circular depression in the ground—an ancient crater formed by the impact of a meteorite thousands of years ago.

Our poem, F L A T L A N D, was published in the Summer 2010 issue of Island Writer magazine.

F l a t l a n d
by Garth Von Buchholz

To resist the op(press)ion
of the two (dement)sional flatland world of glossy magazines,
I have (ob)seen women

Mutilate their forearms with deep(er) strokes of a razor
So that they may prove with their b(lo)ody
To themselves and their (conf)users
That their image (has depth)

Has depth (their image
Has depth).

Thirst of a Thousand to be published

Post by: Von Buchholz on October 13th, 2009 | File Under Von Buchholz Logbook
sexandmurder4

We are pleased to announce that our short story, Thirst of a Thousand, which was written earlier this year, will be published in Issue #4 of Sex and Murder.

Thirst of a Thousand is about a young college girl named September who has an unusual — and erotic — thirst for blood. Her explorations and liaisons lead her deeper and deeper into a black chasm of bloodlust and violence.

We wrote Thirst of a Thousand as a somewhat different take on the “vampire” phenomenon in popular literature. In this story, the word “vampire” is only uttered once, and only in reference to a work of art by Edvard Munch.

Download or purchase a print copy of Sex and Murder Issue #4.

Ubour (noun) Def. Vampiric creature of Bulgarian legends, created when a person dies violently or when the spirit refuses to leave the body. Ubours remain buried for 40 days before arising.
